Jim Helton

Final Cut

Jim Helton’s career began 20 years ago when a young Derek Cianfrance convinced him to move out of his parent's basement and move to New York.  Once there, Jim made a living–––and increasingly, a name for himself–––as an editor of independent documentaries, television shows, and his first professional collaborations with Cianfrance since college: “Brother Tied” and “Shots In The Dark.” Jim continues to work with Cianfrance on projects including “Blue Valentine" and "The Place Beyond the Pines." His commercial work includes projects for brands such as The New York Times, Four Seasons, PNC, and Goose Island. His work on The New York Times campaign has won him editing awards at the ADC Awards, One Show and AICP Post.
