Founder + Chief Creative Officer of the award-winning, purpose-driven agency OBERLAND, Bill and his team work with consciously capitalistic for-profit brands and progressive non-profit foundations, to develop breakthrough marketing, advertising and design work. Bill fiercely believes in the power of creativity to bring a better world, and social purpose is what drives sustainable profit in 21C marketing.

Under his leadership, OBERLAND has been named AdAge’s Agency-to-Watch, B-Corp’s Best for the World and AdAge’s Small Agency of the Year, and has been profiled in the Advertising Age, Adweek, Creativity, The Drum and CampaignUS. Bill took the stage @Cannes Lions Festival to host five panel discussions around diversity and inclusion issues in the advertising business, infamously named “The Daily Isms”. Most recently Bill, along with other industry thought leaders, represented the 4A’s “Conscious Creative Movement” at the Advertising Week Festival at Lincoln Center.

Oberlander has served as member of the Ad Council’s Creative Review Committee; President and 
Board member of New York’s Art Directors Club; Advisory Board member of Cooper Hewitt Museum’s Diversity + Inclusion; and Chairman of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence 

NYC Regional Leadership Committee.


Before establishing OBERLAND, Bill worked as Executive Creative Director at Kirshenbaum Bond + Partners, McCann, Ogilvy, and J. Walter Thompson; followed by two years at the Robin Hood Foundation, NYC’s largest poverty-fighting organization, as Managing Director of Communications, Marketing and Events,
