Jen Dean

Cut + Run

Editor Jen Dean has a natural talent for developing candid, open moments that celebrate humanity with expressive style. Throughout her career Jen's love of music and knowledge of film history have always been at the forefront of her collaborations in the edit. Her commitment to storytelling can be seen in her work for noted clients including Instagram, Pandora, The New York Times, Google, and the 2022 Emmy Award winning campaign for New York City “It’s Time for NYC”.

A native Texan, Jen Dean went from studying experimental cinema with Stan Brakhage and Phil Solomon at University of Colorado, Boulder to assisting Hank Corwin for many years. Both experiences proved invaluable as she became an editor in her own right, developing a personal style that embraces her interests in fashion, documentary, and the blending of multimedia and archival footage. Raised on a diet of MTV, music is an ever- present part of Dean’s approach to projects and she was the recipient of the very first AICP Post award for Best Editing in a Music Video.

A huge believer in the value of mentorship, Jen takes great pride in her time spent with assistants and getting to know the next generation of editors and creatives. Honoring the creativity of the industry is also deeply important to Jen; she is an active supporter of AICP's Camp Kuleshov competition and was a moderator during AICP Week in 2022. Jen is honored to be chosen to chair the 2023 AICP Post Awards Show.
