COMMUNITY AFFAIRS: Polls Opening Soon: Candidates Currently Being Fielded for the AICP National Board of Directors and Regional Boards

All AICP members are encouraged to get involved in the organization. An active membership is crucial to the success of the Association.

One of the best ways to get involved is to run for a seat on the AICP National Board of Directors or your Regional Board (East, Midwest, Southeast, Southwest and West).

National Board Elections

Elections for the National Board of Directors will take place in early November, and we are currently fielding candidates. If you are interested in running for the National Board, please contact Kristin Wilcha at kristinw@aicp.com.

There are two ways to serve on the National Board, which focuses exclusively on the management of the Association. One is to be elected as a “Member At Large”; and the other is to be appointed as a representative of a Chapter by a Regional Board.

Members at Large come from the ranks of both the General and Associate memberships (there are eight General member seats and two Associate Member seats on the National Board). Each is elected directly by their respective members (General or Associate). Terms are staggered, and during this election cycle, there will be five (5) General Member at Large seats open, and one (1) Associate Member at Large seat open.

The election for the open Members At Large seats will take place in early November. Any General or Associate member in good standing may run for these seats. All candidates for the National Board must submit the following by October 13, 2025:

  • A nomination and a second from an AICP member company other than your own (General Members nominate General members; Associate Members nominate Associate Members).
  • A biography.
  • A statement (500 words or less) on why you want to serve on the National Board.

Once the slate of National Board candidates is finalized, there is a campaign period culminating with a designated individual at each member company receiving an electronic ballot for voting. To update the designated ballot recipient at your company, please email David Stewart at davids@aicp.com.

Regional Board Elections

Service on a Regional Board is an important role in the connection of our organization and the membership.

The Regional Boards (East; Southeast; Midwest; Southwest; and West) meet to identify and discuss issues of concern to the members on both a National and Regional basis; plan ways to educate and connect with the local membership; and foster a sense of community. The criteria for running for a West or East Board seat are the same as for the National Board elections; other regions vary. For those interested in serving on one of the Regional Boards, please contact Kristin Wilcha at kristinw@aicp.com to be connected to the appropriate liaison for the region.
