Protecting Your DGA Signatory Status
Last month, the AICP issued the following labor bulletin, which was also discussed at an AICP Virtual Town Hall, regarding “co-productions” between signatory and non-signatory companies.
Please click here to view a letter from the Directors Guild of America (DGA). The Guild is making it very clear that DGA signatories are prohibited from creating a co-production relationship with non-signatories when employing DGA members.
Prior AICP alerts have discussed the potential negative business consequences of this practice. These alerts address the issues of “loaning out” your talent or “white labeling” for non-signatories. The creation of a co-production relationship is a further extension of this line of responsibility you have as a signatory and your directors have as members of the DGA.
Please read carefully and heed this warning.
