AICP East Volunteer Initiative - Food Bank for New York City

On Wednesday, December 3rd, AICP Members volunteered at the Food Bank for New York City's Community Pantry in Harlem. The group helped prepare and serve dinner to neighbors in need, ultimately providing hot meals to over 200 people. The pantry offers a welcoming space for New Yorkers facing food insecurity to enjoy a warm meal, connect with others, and learn more about Food Bank services.
The Food Bank for New York City has been a cornerstone of hunger relief since 1983. With a network of roughly 1,200 food providers, their services reach every corner of the five boroughs. Each year, approximately 8,000 volunteers contribute their time to ensure fellow New Yorkers have food on their plates. We were proud to be a small part of that effort, and grateful for the chance to give back to the community.
The December 3rd event was the final one for the 2025 East Volunteer Initiative, during which AICP members volunteered with the Food Bank at several locations across New York City. Organized under the aegis of the AICP East Board, and Board member Gloria Pitagorsky of Heard City, more dates and events will be added in 2026.
